What can we do as educational professionals to help ensure digital equity? Several factors go into promoting digital equity, many of which go beyond the scope of access to devices. Let's dive deeper and see what lies below the surface, and how stakeholders at all levels can work together for the benefit of all students.

After attending this session, participants will gain a better understanding of:

Working to ensure digital access for students.
The importance of authentic learning and creation opportunities.
Grassroots ways to leverage a PLN to be the best for their students.

Presenter: Sarah Thomas, PhD is a Regional Technology Coordinator in a large district in Maryland, and the founder of EduMatch, a project that empowers educators to make global connections across common areas of interest. She has spoken and presented internationally, participated in the Technical Working Group to refresh the 2017 ISTE Standards for Educators, and is a recipient of the 2017 ISTE Making IT Happen award. She is also an Affiliate Professor at Loyola University in Maryland. Sarah is a co-author of the ISTE Digital equity series, Closing the Gap.
