The current educational system in the United States, with a focus on competition and grade achievement have led to chronic absenteeism, disengagement and negative behaviors among students. How would that change if we redefined success in education by prioritizing the well-being of each member of the school community.

By using project-based learning in social justice education, schools can provide students with the opportunity to engage with important issues in meaningful ways, thereby providing authentic opportunities that come from student’s lives to develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and a sense of agency while making positive change in their communities.
