Harnessing AI for Educator Well-being and Efficiency: Nurturing Minds, Simplifying Tasks

-

Content! Tests! SEL! DEI! Trauma-Informed! Anxiety! So much on an educator’s plate!!

We understand the immense dedication and hard work that educators put into nurturing young minds every day. Listening and coaching teachers over the past two years, we have heard, loud and clear, that the weight of these responsibilities can and has taken a toll on teachers’ well-being, leaving them with little time and energy for self-care and personal growth.

We have always worked with schools to recognize the importance of creating a balanced environment where both educators and students can thrive. This session will introduce teachers and administrators to AI tools and practices that alleviate the burden of administrative tasks and also enhances one’s focus on their own well-being.

AI is not a replacement for educators; it is a powerful tool that can help streamline educator tasks, freeing up time to focus on what truly matters: inspiring and empowering students. AI technologies that we will play with in this session will focus on designing lessons, grading papers, creating assessments, and curating learning activities.

Specifically, we will engage, practice and discuss various applications, including:

Write prompts that yield useful results.  The quality of the output is determined by the quality of the input.  The choice and quality of writing prompts have a direct impact on the AI's behavior and the type of responses it produces. Thoughtfully crafted prompts can lead to insightful, creative, and useful AI-generated content, while poorly formulated prompts can result in biased, inappropriate, or nonsensical outputs.

Generate personalized lesson plans based on student strengths, learning preferences, and academic goals. Optimize the use of AI while maintaining your unique teaching style and cultural sensitivity.

Use AI-powered grading tools, to examine ways to use AI to efficiently assess student work, track progress, and provide meaningful feedback.

One of our favorite uses of AI is to create engaging learning activities and tasks. We will focus on empowering your students to take charge of their learning journey by incorporating AI-powered interactive elements that cater to individual interests and abilities. Whether integrating the arts, enhancing your lessons with diverse and culturally relevant learning activities, designing projects for PBL or IBL, or planning cross-curricular activities - using AI-generated content suggestions supports a balanced environment where both educators and students can thrive.

Please don’t miss this!  Your mental health will thank you. Join us to feel equipped with the tools to harness the potential of AI while prioritizing your well-being and that of your students.

Participants will leave this workshop with AI tools to:

  • Support educator mental health
  • Write prompts to generate useful results
  • Design engaging lessons
  • Efficient grading and assessment
  • Create engaging learning activities

Video-Recorded Virtual (Zoom) Sessions and Tips to Maintain your Privacy during a Recorded Session:  As an added value, all virtually-delivered programs are video recorded and accessible to our workshop registrants and Professional Learning Consortium Members subsequent to the session. Therefore, each virtually-delivered workshop and webinar will now have Zoom’s Recording Disclaimer enabled by default. With this feature, attendees will receive a notification when a recording starts or if they join a session that is already being recorded. The participant can then consent to stay in the session and be recorded or choose to leave the session altogether.

Tips to Maintain your Privacy during a Virtually-Delivered Session: Actively engaging in Zoom sessions is important. Participants may have concerns, however, of a Zoom session recording capturing their participation. Meeting hosts or instructors are taking steps to minimize this concern. In addition to the consent, participants can also use the following steps and features to take control of what is shared when a session is being recorded.

  • Change your participant name displayed in Zoom (e.g. only use your first name, replace your name)
  • Disable your video
