Educational Absurdity: “Teaching in a way that we know doesn’t work and yet being surprised when we fail.” From a distance, this seems ridiculous, yet it describes many of our most consistent frustrations in the ELA classroom. How did we get here? Why do we continue? Most importantly, what can we do instead? This session will challenge many of the sacred assumptions about “what we do here” and provide thoughtful, provocative strategies to encourage our students to stop Doing School and start thinking big.
