The "Getting Started with Math Workshop" Series! Are you new to teaching in a Mathematics Workshop model? Have you been out of the classroom for a while and can’t believe how much teaching has changed? Are you a brand new teacher? If you answered yes, this is the workshop for you! Mathematics Workshop is a framework for all teachers of mathematics - not just the elementary level! It is made up of several  instructional components. Join us for both the basics of each component and how they fit together, as well as ways to use each component to the benefit of your students. Attend one, two or all sessions!

Session 3: Getting Started with Math Workshop - Engaging Learners with Meaningful Math Practice

They are doing “the work”, but are they really doing true math work? Do they value their processes. think flexibly, connect to prior knowledge, analyze concepts and communicate their understandings? In this third session of the Getting Started with Math Workshop series, we will define meaningful math practice, analyze some current types of math work and develop ways to make it more engaging and meaningful. We will also explore open-ended math problems that values the process of doing math and helps to encourage flexible thinking in math an a growth mindset! We will also spend time creating engaging and open math activities that can be used next day!

Please mail all correspondence, including purchase orders, checks and agreements to TMI Education at PO Box 922, Madison, NJ 07940. If you are unable to attend a program for which you have registered, email TMI Education at [email protected] or call seven (7) days prior to the program to request a refund. No refunds will be granted unless notification is provided within this time frame. TMI Education reserves the right to cancel events for any reason, including inclement weather and instructor illness. If TMI Education makes the decision to cancel a workshop, we will use the EMAIL contact information you have provided to us to inform you. In addition, we will post the announcement of cancellation on the respective TMI Education website workshop page. If TMI Education cancels, participants will be provided a choice of:

  • a full refund;
  • transfer to another, upcoming workshop date and location (space permitting); or
  • credit toward a future workshop. (Please note that all credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.)
